Continuous Improvement & Gainshare Lead

Here at GXO, we are seeking a results-driven Continuous Improvement & Gain Share Lead to spearhead operational excellence across four transport sites within our Coop contract. This key role will lead, and coordinate initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, reducing costs, enhancing service delivery, and generating tangible value through gain share mechanisms. You will work closely with site management, transport planners, drivers, and customer stakeholders to identify and implement best-in-class transport solutions.
This is a regional role, so you can be based at anyone of 3 sites for this contract, Lea Green, Andover or Avonmouth with travel to these sites including Thurrock.
This is a full time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 08:00 till 16:30, however some flexibility may be required, this is logistics after all!

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Lead CI initiatives across all sites using Lean and Six Sigma principles, with a focus on improving vehicle utilization, route optimisation, on-time delivery performance, and fuel efficiency
- Conduct process mapping, data analysis, and time-motion studies to identify inefficiencies in transport workflows
- Facilitate problem-solving workshops (e.g., Kaizen, A3) and support teams in implementing countermeasures
- Identify opportunities that deliver cost savings, improved service levels, or operational efficiencies that qualify under gain share models
- Work with finance, IT, and operational teams to calculate baseline costs, validate savings, and track benefit realisation
- Lead or support projects in areas such as: load consolidation & vehicle fill rates, driver route compliance, fuel reduction strategies, backhaul and collaboration opportunities, reduction in demurrage or detention charges
- Ensure documentation and reporting of gain share initiatives for internal governance and client transparency
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Background in 3PL transport operations, ideally with exposure to FMCG, retail, or automotive contracts
- Strong working knowledge of transport management systems (TMS), route planning tools (e.g., Paragon, Microlise), and telematics
- Demonstrable experience in delivering CI projects in a transport or logistics setting
- Data-savvy with strong analytical skills and the ability to convert insights into action
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma tools (Green Belt preferred)
- Experience engaging drivers, depot teams, and senior stakeholders
