What your day looks like as a HR Officer
- Work closely with the operations team providing counsel and guidance regarding policies, procedures, and state and federal regulatory compliance requirements; keep management and operations informed of internal and external HR developments that may impact overall effectiveness.
- Facilitate new hire orientation and ensure a positive onboarding experience.
- Guide managers and supervisors in appropriate and fair Human Resources practices; assist supervisors with performance management, including delivery of disciplinary action for hourly employees.
- Maintain associate personnel files, ensure documents and manuals are kept current, accurate, confidential, and in compliance with company policies and government regulations
- Partner with leave administrator and management team to effectively administer and track leave programs including short-term disability, worker’s compensation, and personal leaves.
- Coaches and counsels’ management and employees regarding policies and procedures, discipline, interpersonal and teamwork opportunities.
- Promotes employee engagement through regular, personal contact with employees resulting in a positive atmosphere.
- Leads in screening, hiring, on-boarding and development of new employees of the Site to enable them to add value quickly.
- Support GXO HR initiatives on the site.
- Work safely as per GXO Health & Safety trainings, standards, procedures and processes and actively contribute to a safer work environment for colleagues and visitors
- Contribution to structural reduction of negative environmental impact from usage of natural resources (a/o energy, water, fuel) and from emissions (waste, carbon) and to contribute to environmental performance initiatives
- Adhere to applicable legal requirements, GXO and industry standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
What do you need to be successful
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in Dutch and French, with basic English
- Educated to bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Previous HR Experience would be advantageous but not essential
- Ability to travel to different sites when needed
- Experienced in MS packages word/PowerPoint/excel – Visma and protime is beneficial but not essential
