The Logistic BU Engineer is responsible for providing design and execution support for projects tied to expanding business implementations within the Business Unit. The Logistic BU Engineer designs the overall facility layout, storage media, and flow paired with appropriate equipment. The detailed design must meet customer and organizational requirements tied to Safety, Quality, and Productivity. Once approved by the BU Director, the Logistic BU Engineer manages the physical implementation of the design adhering to scope, timeline, and budget requirements set by the Site Manager.

 

 

What you do on a typical day as a Logistics Business Engineer? 

 

  • Represent the supply chain in cross sector project team.
  • Determine the logistic consequences of proposed plan changes and related actions on project and program level.
  • Develop and provide the detailed tasks required for successful implementation to the Project Manager.
  • Full understanding of the approved Solutions Model tied to the client’s award of business to GXO Logistics.
  • Participation in sessions with new clients validating processes, volumes, and other requirements.
  • Determine and gain agreement of final design of facility, operating process, equipment type and quantity.
  • Partner with key functional groups that are part of implementation (HR, IT, Operations, etc.) to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and provide data inputs for those groups where required.
  • Provide tools to site team to track and report on established Key Performance Indicators.
  • Provide labour planning tool tailored to the client’s business and agreed upon operating processes.
  • Identify and procure all necessary capital expense items to support successful launch of operation.
  • Secure that logistic requirements are met in product design, supply chain developments and related quality performance.
  • Secure availability of accurate implementation plans for engineering changes and challenge the project on timing and supply chain impact. Monitor proper execution of this implementation plan.
  • Support Project leaders in managing product critical path within the boundaries of the triple constraint (quality, timing, cost).
  • Drive the preparation of supply chain and report progress for new, revised and phase down parts. Define and execute projects to drive the preparation within the sector.
  •  Manage phase down of products in supply chain in cross sector product team.
  • Consciously dealing with the reduction of environmental impact in terms of waste, energy, water, and fuel consumption.

 

Who are you?

 

  • You are in posession of a bachelor degree / university degree in relevant area (logistics / production) with accompanying high level operational and analytical skills.  
  • Broad experience in the field of Supply Chain
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience a complex and multidimensional organisation
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in Dutch and English. French and German are an advantage
  • You are self-driven, result-oriented and like to work pro-actively
  • You have good reporting, presentation and financial skills
