Currently recruiting for a Transport Manager for our site in Zellik.
This position is responsible for overseeing all activities within the Transport department. The role involves defining departmental requirements and implementing strategies and initiatives to meet or exceed operational goals and customer expectations.
- Lead and manage a team of 7 transport employees, acting as a strong people leader.
- Ensure efficient operations and continuous improvement through new processes and systems.
- Drive financial performance with a solid understanding of P&L management.
- Previous experience in Transport management.
- Fluency in French and English or Dutch and English.
What you do on a typical day – Transport Manager
- Define requirements for multiple operations and ensure the implementation of new strategies and initiatives to effectively meet or exceed Company requirements & customer expectations.
- Support Human Resource development through appropriate training, development, and succession planning.
- Supervise and develop staff and otherwise carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsible for exceeding customer metrics (cost, quality, and responsiveness).
- Implement and coach Lean warehousing system.
- Regularly reviews performance expectations with the leadership team, providing expectations, performance planning, feedback, training and development and performance discussions.
- Support and attend customer QBR’s.
- Provide support for sales and customer quotations.
- Identify growth opportunities with current customers.
- Support customs and legal solutions.
- Support transportation and supply chain solutions.
- Develop and implement a healthy and safe work environment.
- Administers and communicates company policies.
- Supervises and develops staff and otherwise carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance
- Manages quality system and continuous process improvement within the facility.
- Supervises invoice drafting processes.
- Supports account receivable follow up process.
- Review and approve operations expenses.
- Develop and achieve budget and operating income goals.
- Work safely as per GXO Health & Safety trainings, standards, procedures and processes and actively contribute to a safer work environment for colleagues and visitors.
- Contribution to structural reduction of negative environmental impact from usage of natural resources (a/o energy, water, fuel) and from emissions (waste, carbon) and to contribute to environmental performance initiatives.
- Adhere to applicable legal requirements, GXO and industry standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
What you need to succeed at GXO
- Bachelor’s degree, e.g., in logistics, engineering, operations management, supply chain management or business administration.
- Minimum Required Experience: 5+ years of Operations experience within Transportation; experience managing large projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Drive financial performance with a solid understanding of P&L management.
- Previous experience in Transport management.
- Strong leadership and change management skills.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and build relationships at all organizational levels.
- A transport License, transportvergunning / vakbekwaamheid is preferred but not essential.
- Fluency in French and English or Dutch and English.
