We're looking for an Assistant Health and Safety Manager to join our team at our ASOS site in Barnsley. You will be supporting the Health and Safety Manager in delivering a proactive, engaging and compliant safety culture. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional who enjoys partnering with operational teams, leading by example and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You'll play a key role in ensuring compliance, investigating incidents, leading a small health and safety team and embedding best practice across the site.

This is a full-time permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30 with occasional alternative hours due to operational requirements, this  is logistics after all!

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £41,500.00 per annum and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Support operational teams with the creation, review and implementation of risk assessments and associated safety documentation
• Lead and coordinate incident and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions are completed
• Manage day-to-day Health & Safety activities across the site while promoting a positive and proactive safety culture
• Lead, coach and develop the QHSE team, ensuring compliance activities and safety initiatives are delivered effectively
• Produce safety reports, analyse trends and support continuous improvement programmes, audits and site-wide safety campaigns

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• Experience in a similar role ideally within logistics or warehouse environments
• NEBOSH General Certificate or NVQ L3, IOSH, and a strong working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
• Experience supporting or conducting risk assessments, investigations and safety compliance activities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence colleagues at all levels
• A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to challenge unsafe behaviours and drive improvement
• The ability to work independently while building strong collaborative relationships across operational and support teams
