Head of Warehouse Night Shift

Here at GXO, we are looking for that dynamic individual to join us as Head of Night Shift at our WHSmith customer warehouse site in Birmingham. The operation is all about supplying anything travel wise to WHSmith locations. You’ll be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the operation to ensure the timely, accurate, and efficiency across the night shift. You will be managing a team, optimising processes, maintaining high standards of customer service, and ensuring compliance with health & safety and regulatory requirements. In addition, you will be responsible for implementing a robust plan to deliver results year on year across safety, people, finance, operations, and customer satisfaction as well as collaborating with other shift managers to enhance overall warehouse operations and support business objectives.

The role is offered on a full time, permanent basis, working Sunday to Thursday, 22:00 to 06:00

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £48,500.00 (inclusive of night shift allowance), and 33 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Work with the customer to identify priority areas in the business and work effectively to improve on a priority basis
- Overall accountability for operational performance against KPI’s, Responsible for setting, managing budgets for area of responsibility
- Identify areas of improvement within the Outbound processes and manage operational constraints in partnership with the WHSmith and GXO senior teams to ensure operational success at all times
- To fully understand the impact of the outbound process across all areas of the fulfilment centre
- Ensure Environmental, Health & Safety requirements are met at all times
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Graduate level or a minimum of 5 years logistics industry experience, of which at least 2 years in line management position
- IOSH Managing Safely and CMILT, preferred but not essential
- Be customer focused, operationally astute and experienced in achieving stretching objectives and operating to high standards
- Lean Background desirable and have demonstrable experience in fast-moving retail logistics
- Excellent people management skills with the ability to build credible and strong professional relationships at all levels
