Training Manager

We’re looking for a Training Manager to join our GXO Direct operation supporting Mountain Warehouse in Peterborough. In this role, you’ll lead onsite training activity, develop tailored learning programmes, and drive capability across all levels of the operation — from entry‑level colleagues to emerging and established leaders.

 

This is a full‑time, permanent role, working any 5 days from 7, 40 hours per week.

We’re looking to offer a salary of £40,000 and 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of operational, management and cross‑training programmes, ensuring they support site capability and future growth
  • Develop and support the onsite training team, ensuring consistent, high‑quality delivery and robust assessments that maintain compliance across all functions
  • Work closely with the central L&D team, department heads and site leaders to align training with GXO strategy, PDR outcomes, operational needs, and succession plans
  • Maintain and improve training documentation, processes, refresher schedules and performance metrics, ensuring training impact is measurable and supports speed‑to‑competency
  • Lead on training‑related engagement initiatives, support onboarding standards, audit training compliance, and deliver a range of soft‑skills and core‑skills workshops

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Experience designing, delivering and evaluating training programmes across operational environments
  • Strong communication, coaching and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Knowledge of modern training techniques, mandatory training requirements and best‑practice documentation (SSOW, SOPs, RA)
  • Ability to build a positive learning culture, manage multiple programmes simultaneously, and maintain accurate training records
  • Enthusiasm for learning, excellent organisational skills, and confidence working both hands‑on and strategically
