Transport Supervisor 9 Month FTC

As our Transport Supevisor (9 Month FTC), you’ll be managing, leading and monitoring our transport operation, for our customer Cormar Carpets, based in our Hemel Hempstead depot. This is a varied opportunity, focusing on strategic route planning, resource allocation, fostering team engagement and delivering a smooth operation for our customer.

This is a full time, 9 Month FTC position, predominately working Monday to Friday, between 12.00 PM to 20.00 PM. We do require flexibility on some occasions, this is logistics after all.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £38,000.00 per annum (pro rata) and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Transport operations management: Oversee daily transport activities, including route planning, resource allocation, and driver supervision, ensuring smooth and efficient deliveries
  • Team leadership and management: Communicate effectively with delivery teams, maintain morale through engagement and 1:1s, and support recruitment, training, and coaching initiatives
  • Compliance: Maintain accurate records, update systems and spreadsheets, process employee paperwork, and ensure adherence to company policies and legal regulations
  • Stakeholder collaboration: Liaise with internal departments, suppliers, managers, and stakeholders to resolve transport-related issues and drive accountability and professionalism
  •  Performance & customer satisfaction: Achieve operational targets, contribute to continuous improvement, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction in line with NPS standards

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Experience and understanding of the movement of vehicles and legislations/compliance within transport operations (including tachograph policies, driving hours, road Traffic Act etc)
  • Resource plan, focusing on efficency and cost-effective decision making
  • Leadership skills, effective relationships through development, coaching and management
  • Strong communication skills with stakeholders at all levels
