Accounting Controls & Recharges Manager - 18 month FTC

Here at GXO, we’re looking for an experienced Accounting Controls & Recharge Manager to take full ownership of the Record‑to‑Report function within the legacy Wincanton business, including central balance sheet control, corporate management accounts, centralised billing and key financial controls.
You’ll lead a skilled team, act as the main accounting and audit liaison, and play a pivotal role in ensuring integrity, accuracy and efficiency across the finance landscape.
This is an 18-month fixed term contract. The role is hybrid, with a requirement to work in our Chippenham office on a Tuesday & Wednesday each week. You’ll be working Monday to Friday, 09:00 till 17:00. However, some flexibility is required, this is logistics after all!

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £75,000, depending on experience and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) plus car allowance to the value of £6000 PA. Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme and private medical cover.
What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Owning the full R2R process including reporting, fixed assets, leases, payroll and centralised billing, ensuring timely, accurate delivery aligned to Group requirements
- Maintaining and controlling all related central balance sheet reconciliations, producing corporate items management accounts, supporting statutory accounting and the budget process
- Leading the development and strengthening of accounting controls, SOX compliance, operational risk reviews and audit interactions
- Building strong relationships across senior management, FP&A, operational leaders and finance teams to influence decision‑making and drive improvements
- Guiding, motivating and supporting the R2R team, fostering continuous improvement and delivering efficiency gains through documented best practice
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- A qualified technical accountant with strong R2R experience and a solid grounding in accounting, finance and auditing
- Proven exposure to SOX controls, IFRS 16 and US GAAP, with excellent understanding of financial control frameworks
- Oracle experience (highly desirable) and confidence working in a fast‑moving environment requiring quick, accurate decisions
- A resilient, adaptable and collaborative mindset. Able to manage escalations, influence stakeholders and develop effective solutions
- Strong communication, leadership and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to coach others and drive high performance
