Finance Assistant

Here at GXO, we’re looking for a Finance Assistant to join our Defence Finance Team based in Chippenham. As a Finance Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting the strategic growth of the Defence Business Unit. This is a varied and demanding position, ideal for someone who enjoys working with detail, collaborating with stakeholders, and contributing to robust financial control in a complex operational environment.
This is a full-time, permanent position. You will work Monday to Friday, 09:00 till 17:00.
Please note that this is predominantly a remote role, however, you will be required to attend the Chippenham site semi-regularly.

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Support the Finance Manager in ensuring revenues and costs are accurately captured and allocated
- Manage Subcontractor Purchase Orders, including resolving invoice queries
- Undertake nominal ledger tasks such as journal processing, cross-charges, and period-end reconciliations
- Support the preparation of Monthly Management Accounts
- Monitor and report KPIs and non-financial data to support service delivery and contractual commitments
- Perform regular large-scale operational and transactional reconciliations
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Currently studying towards AAT, CIMA, or ACCA qualification
- Experience using a finance system or ERP package
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels
- High attention to detail and a strong focus on financial controls
- The ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards
