Regional Assistant Transport Manager

GXO is currently seeking a talented and driven Regional Assistant Transport Manager to join us on at our B&Q site in Doncaster. Here you will lead the night shift operations across all sites, to include a team of shift managers, team leaders, clerks, and drivers. You will give direction and monitor performance, to ensure that the department operates efficiently and effectively in providing a quality service.

 

This is a full time, permanent position, where you’ll be working Sunday to Thursday, 22:00 – 06:00, with some flexibility required, this is transport after all!

You’ll be paid a salary of up to £42,000.00 per annum, plus an additional 15% night shift allowance. What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Lead and coordinate night operations across multiple B&Q sites, including managing shift managers, FLMs, clerical staff, core/agency drivers and subcontractors 
  • Ensure legal compliance across the transport function, including O‑Licence standards, Health & Safety and operational procedures
  • Monitor KPIs, service levels and cost performance, resolving discrepancies and driving continuous improvement
  • Build strong customer relationships through excellent communication, timely reporting and delivery of agreed actions
  • Support resource planning, budget activity, performance reviews, succession planning and the efficient use of fleet, staff and subcontractors

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Experience managing or supervising teams within a complex, fast‑moving transport operation
  • Strong communication, leadership and coaching skills with the ability to drive a positive culture
  • Proven experience managing conflicting priorities, operational planning and change
  • Good understanding of transport compliance, cost drivers, Health & Safety and operational processes
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, with the ability to build strong relationships across a wide range of stakeholders
  • International CPC desirable
