What you do on a typical day

For this role, we’re looking for someone who doesn’t just follow processes—they shape them. You’ll play a key part in developing, standardizing, optimizing, and safeguarding business processes across the organization. In return, we give you trust, freedom, and the space to take ownership. Your tasks include:

  • Provide monthly reports to the ServiceTech Safety committee, as per predefined format and ensure that follow up on decisions made and actions is done accordingly
  • Provide accurate QESH advice and support to operational management/ staff, including advising on regulations, compliance as well as environmental issues. This will either be by direct support or use of available expertise within the assigned area.
  • Provide support and guidance to operational teams, management, and customers on QESH performance and provide root cause analysis to aid relevant coaching and feedback.
  • Drive the positive intervention reporting initiative and encourage near miss reporting.
  • Prepare and deliver of internal and external reports, in alignment with the ServiceTech Safety Committee for the operations in Belgium, Germany & Holland
  • Follow up on ServiceTech Safety committee agreed Safety projects.
  • Engage staff and contractors on Safety performance on a day-to-day basis and support the delivery of objectives and targets.
  • Undertake audits of contract depots and staff on site yard and transport (including home services logistics services), including out of hours if required.
  • Assist and support with audits by internal and external bodies/ parties for example ISO audits, etc.
  • Assist and support operational management to promote Safety at briefings and internal and external meetings.
  • Assist operational personnel with incident investigation; provide advice, support, and guidance on GXO safety management system framework. Ensure that learning points are fed into the service tech Safety committee for continued improvement of policy, Safety basics standards etc.
  • Undertake evaluations of existing and potential subcontractors, including annual auditing of sub- contractors, management systems.
  • Support local managers on the contact with QESH regulators (e.g., HSE, Local Authority, Environment Agency etc.) accompanying them on inspections, audits and responding to complaints and queries.
  • Support and implement a site specific Risk Assessments and support management on corrective actions.
  • Work close together with the Sr. Director Security in Security investigations, when required, and the European Safety basics and compliance directors, on safety related  matters.

  • Work within and promote the Road to Zero Safety philosophy of safe team working and development across all company activities to achieve business objectives and continuously improve performance.
  • Engender and operate in a culture of zero tolerance of accidents and self-inflicted incidents.
  • Work safely as per GXO Safety trainings, standards, procedures and processes and actively contribute to a safer work environment for colleagues and visitors.
  • Contribution to structural reduction of negative environmental impact from usage of natural resources (a/o energy, water, fuel) and from emissions (waste, carbon) and to contribute to environmental performance initiatives.

 

 
What you need to succeed at GXO

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area (preferably technical) with accompanying high level analyticalskills. Qualified as Safety expert according to Dutch (and Belgium) laws.
  • Experience in ISO 9001, ISO 45001, 14001, etc depending on site need. Proven by relevant training.
  • Broad experience in the field of Safety, with attention to logistics (warheouse/production), home deliveries and physical security matters including ESD (Electro Static Discharge)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a complex and multidimensional organisation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English
  • Self-driven and resilient and able to thrive in a challenging environment.
  • Able to work in a diverse environment and gain exposure to an international working environment
  • Committed to delivering high quality work and have a professional critical attitude and a straight back.
  • Result-oriented and like to work pro-actively
  • Excellent reporting, finance and presentation skills.
  • Broad technical knowledge and are willing to keep developing yourself.
  • People person and have great communication skills.
  • Ability to monitor and uphold high quality of service to clients (internal and external)
