What you do on a typical day 

Success here means more than technical expertise. It’s about influence. You’ll need to communicate your knowledge with confidence and clarity, and naturally inspire others to see why safety, quality, and compliance aren’t just priorities—they’re essential. Your tasks include:

  • Health, safety, and risk management
    • Develop health and safety procedures in line with national legislation to protect employee welfare, product safety, installations, surrounding areas, and emergency and crisis response systems.
    • Develop risk assessment tools and carry out risk inventory and evaluation processes in line with national and international legislation, as well as applicable standards.
    • Lead hazard studies on industrial sites and oversee the development of technological risk prevention plans.
    • Develop health and safety instructions and training programmes.
    • Advise the organisation on compliance with all legal health and safety requirements.
    • Support and manage health and safety inspections.
    • Lead accident investigations and reporting when incidents occur.
    • Work in line with GXO health and safety training, standards, procedures, and processes, while actively contributing to a safer environment for colleagues and visitors.
  • Quality management and compliance
    • Act as management representative for the applicable quality management system.
    • Ensure the processes required for the quality management system are documented and maintained.
    • Promote awareness of regulatory and quality management system requirements across the organisation.
    • Report to management on the effectiveness of the quality management system and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Environmental and operational standards
    • Contribute to the structural reduction of environmental impact by supporting efficient use of natural resources such as energy, water, and fuel, and by reducing emissions, waste, and carbon output.
    • Support environmental performance initiatives across the site.
    • Ensure compliance with return, on-site and field repair, and refurbishment standards, as well as applicable legislation.
    • Ensure compliance with electronics waste storage, transport, and disposal standards, along with relevant legislation.
    • Ensure compliance with NEN-3140 and other relevant standards.
    • Maintain familiarity with the conditions and requirements for field repair activities carried out at customer locations by field engineers.
  • Leadership responsibilities
    • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in line with organisational policies, legal requirements, and applicable standards.
    • Responsibilities may include interviewing and hiring employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; supporting performance management; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

 
What you need to succeed at GXO

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area (preferably technical) with accompanying high level analytical skills. Qualified as Safety expert according to Dutch laws - Belgium laws would be an advantage
  • Experience in ISO 9001, ISO 45001, 14001, etc depending on site need. Proven by relevant training
  • Broad experience in the field of Safety, with attention to logistics (warehouse/production), home deliveries and physical security matters including ESD (Electro Static Discharge)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a complex and multidimensional organisation, ideally industrial/manufacturing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Dutch
  • Self-driven, resilient and able to work in a diverse environment and gain exposure to an international working environment
  • Result-oriented and like to work pro-actively
  • Excellent reporting, finance and presentation skills
  • Broad technical knowledge within electronics and are willing to keep developing yourself
  • People person and have great communication skills with people at various levels
  • Ability to monitor and uphold high quality of service to clients (internal and external)
  • A clean driving license as travel is required in this role
