Warehouse Operative

GXO is looking for a Warehouse Operative / Storekeeper to support our SGN contract in Edinburgh (Newbridge EH28 8TG), ensuring engineers receive the materials they need to keep essential services moving.

 

Some travel to our Falkirk store and stock movements between Edinburgh and Falkirk may be required, along with occasional visits to other sites to support stock takes. A company van will be provided for these duties.

 

This is a full-time, permanent role working Monday to Friday covering the hours between 08:00 and 16:15.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Respond to material requests from engineers and issue stock accurately
  • Pick and prepare orders for engineer collections and operational requirements
  • Receive deliveries and record all materials accurately in the system
  • Manage waste streams in line with company processes
  • Monitor stock levels, identify discrepancies and escalate where necessary
  • Travel to our second store in Falkirk when contract work is taking place, transporting stock between Edinburgh and Falkirk as required
  • Support stock takes at other sites when needed

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Experience in stores, warehousing, or logistics operations
  • Knowledge of safe manual handling and general store safety practices
  • Familiarity with stock control processes and basic inventory systems
  • Strong attention to detail with accurate, methodical working
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • Clear communication skills to engage with engineers and depot colleagues
