Job Title: Engineer, Chemical Process Manager– Ellenwood, GA

1st shift Monday-Thursday 4:30am-2:30pm

 

As the Engineer, Chemical Process, you will oversee the daily activities of compounding to ensure bulk batching is completed within customer specifications and the set batch cycle time, partner cross-functionally to resolve issues and ensure clear and consistent communication with the customer and build a culture of continuous improvement. 

 

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Lead daily compounding operations, including formulation, blending, and batch processing of pesticide products
  • Ensure compliance with safety, industrial hygiene, operation standards and Federal and State regulations for all aspects of processing
  • Develop and optimize chemical blending processes to improve yield, reduce waste, and enhance product consistency
  • Maintain accurate batch records, inventory logs, and production documentation
  • Coordinate with supply chain and logistics to ensure timely availability of raw materials and delivery of finished goods
  • Perform root cause analysis for any processing issues; initiate corrective actions as needed
  • Work with Quality Control to resolve processing or material issues and communicate non-conforming issues to customer
  • Assist with new formulation and process validation, including participation in lab and pilot scale-up and communicating validation status to customer 
  • Work with customer to resolve any validation issues; recommend processing improvements
  • Assist in the assessment, development and implementation of continuous improvement projects to maximize manufacturing efficiencies and profitability
  • Responsible for waste management at the facility which includes monitoring, disposition, data collection and reporting

What you need to succeed at GXO: 

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field, or equivalent work or military experience
  • 2 years of related work experience
  • Strong knowledge of chemical safety, handling hazardous materials, and environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of USEPA (FIFRA & RCRA) regulations
  • Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of liquid and solid blending and chemical interactions
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel; and ability to understand and utilize general mathematical principles is necessary

It’d be great if you also have:

  • 5 years of manufacturing experience
  • Experience in formulation chemistry and scale-up from lab to production
  • Supervisory experience
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication stills
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Warehousing or Third-Party Logistics (3PL) experience
