Transport Supervisor

We’re looking for a proactive Transport Supervisor to join our team in Grays, who can keep our transport operation running smoothly, ensure compliance, and drive team performance. We manage the transportation of fuel from fuel terminals to retail sites and handles the delivery of petroleum, ethanol, and aviation fuel. Our Southeast region operates 25 tankers delivering fuel to Valero’s network.
This is a full time, permanent position where the hours of work are Monday - Friday with weekly rotating early/late shifts - 05:30 to 13:30 and 11:00 to 19:00.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £35,000 per annum, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Support the daily transport operation by handling administrative tasks, compliance, and performance reporting.
- Communicate effectively with departments and customers to manage delays, resolve queries, and provide delivery updates.
- Oversee operational processes including tachograph records, vehicle defect management, and driver behaviour monitoring.
- Contribute to team development through recruitment, training, coaching, and managing absence processes.
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Proven supervisory experience in a fast-paced transport environment with solid knowledge of EU regulations and drivers’ hours.
- Skilled in HR processes including investigations and welfare meetings, with excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office; experience with transport systems and CPC qualification desirable.
- Positive attitude with ability to prioritise tasks; experience in unionised environments advantageous but not essential.
