Senior Director, Communications AmAPAC

The Senior Director of Communications will establish and lead enterprise communications strategy aligned to business priorities and growth across the Americas & Asia Pacific (AmAPAC) region. Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, this role will support the President of AmAPAC and partner closely with regional business leadership to build and execute communications programs that strengthen reputation, enhance executive visibility and foster employee engagement while integrating market driven targeted initiatives.
This role has responsibility for external and internal communications for the AmAPAC region.
Position is hybrid and based out of our GXO office in Greenwich CT, or Fort Lauderdale FL.
What you'll do on a typical day:
- Communications Strategy & Execution
- Develop and execute regional (multinational) communications strategies supporting business priorities aligned with the ELT transformation agenda.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to AmAPAC leadership
- Translate business objectives into clear communications strategies, messaging and execution
- Identify opportunities to elevate the company’s profile in the U.S.
- Serve as point on operational issues management, ensuring timely, accurate, and strategic response.
- Ensure alignment with Global Job Architecture expectations for strategic, enterprise-level impact
- Media Relations and External Engagement
- Build and manage relationships with key U.S. business, trade and industry media
- Support executive visibility opportunities, including speaking engagements, interviews and thought leadership.
- Integrate select marketing capabilities including targeted brand storytelling, content strategy, segmentation, and digital campaigns into strategic internal comms
- Partner with external marketing/brand teams to ensure consistency of voice
- Develop compelling applicable multimedia content (video, social-style internal content)
- Internal Communications
- Foster employee engagement through clear, consistent, and inspiring internal communications.
- Partner with HR and business leaders to support cultural evolution and change management initiatives.
- Team Leadership
- Help establish scalable communications processes and operating model
- Manage agency partners and external vendors
- Acts as a strategic advisor to Regional CEO and SVP HR
- Build organizational capacity through coaching and talent development
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10+ years of communications experience, including significant external communications experience leading media relations, corporate reputation, and executive visibility programs; experience in a global organization preferred.
- Experience in global, matrixed organizations
- Strong executive presence and stakeholder management
- Background in marketing, branding, or digital communications strongly preferred
- Strong media relations and storytelling capability
- Experience working with senior business stakeholders
- Proven track record in:
- Media relations with business and trade outlets
- Executive positioning and thought leadership
- Brand positioning
- Issues management
- 10%-20% travel to U.S. sites, industry conferences and events, GXO offices
