Transport Clerk

Here at GXO Haydock we are looking for a Transport Clerk to join the team working in partnership with our client Sainsburys.
You will be working on a full-time, permanent basis on a rotating 4 on 4 off shift pattern, 4 weeks of days 06:00 – 18:00 and 4 weeks of nights 18:00 – 06:00 covering 40 hours per week.

What you will do on a typical day:
- Ensure timely communication and availability of transport legislation, while monitoring vehicle maintenance to maintain full legal compliance
- Support fleet changes, repairs, maintenance, and the smooth transfer of vehicles between depots by completing and coordinating all required actions and documentation
- Produce, maintain, and present accurate transport information using multiple systems, and liaise with external agencies and suppliers to meet operational objectives
- Contribute to operational improvements by supporting the Transport Operation Plan, escalating non‑compliance, and assisting with site projects or focus areas
- Provide effective communication through various channels and assist with broader administrative duties, including equipment leasing and hiring support
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Experience working in a fast‑paced transport operation, with strong knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. drivers’ hours, working time directive) and health & safety requirements
- Understands the transport function within a wider distribution network and is confident using multiple systems, including Microsoft programs, Yard, and Microlise
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, resolve short‑term issues quickly, and escalate complex matters to line managers
- Effective team player with good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively to meet operational goals
