As the Senior Engineer, Systems, you will be responsible for ensuring that all server systems are operating as efficiently and effectively as possible. You’ll perform work in various important areas, including conducting troubleshooting investigations and performing configuration changes.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Maintain Windows Server systems and take appropriate action to ensure excellent performance and availability; follow change control processes to develop, test and implement technical improvements to system configurations and operations
• Develop scripts to enhance the daily operation and maintenance of production and test systems; install new servers, upgrade existing servers and install software as necessary
• Investigate, recommend, configure, test and implement new technologies for use and deployment in the production environment
• Complete forms or update configuration databases to reflect all changes affecting the equipment or software inventories (e.g., after equipment installations, software installations or equipment moves)
• Implement and follow processes to ensure the security of all systems and data
• Design, implement and execute appropriate standardized procedures to ensure system health; provide reports or logs as required
• Provide third-tier support to the Support Center; complete work necessary to resolve assigned incident tickets within service windows
• Update information in the Support Center system to completely describe ticket resolution

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work or military experience
• 2 years of related work experience
• Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation 
• Scripting experience
• Some experience with storage systems related to server installation and support
• Solid skills in Windows performance tuning and troubleshooting
• Expert knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy management, Domain Name System (DNS), Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
• Expert knowledge of hardware maintenance and installation

It’d be great if you also have:

• Microsoft certification or course work (MCSE/MCITP)
• 5 years of Windows system administration experience (2012-2022 )
• Experience with VMWare administration and Symantec NetBackup
• Ability to lead, teach and influence the work of others as an experienced team member
