What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Define requirements for operations and ensure the implementation of new strategies and initiatives to effectively meet or exceed company requirements and customer expectations.
- Develop and deploy operational and management solutions and establish business controls and processes to support new business implementations.
- Provide project management and guidance to team members to ensure timeline and budget compliance.
- Provide leadership for project execution for both internal departments and external clients; offer direction and guidance to the project team and communicate project requirements to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the full scope of work including contracts, requirements, dependencies, schedules, budget, logistics, labor, materials, equipment, and other pertinent project needs.
- Create and manage cohesive project programs and plans with identifiable critical paths, task dependencies, risk/issue mitigation processes and major milestones.
- Work with business process owners to identify and scope areas of opportunity.
- Creatively scope, manage and implement projects to meet business needs.
- Establish solid collaboration and working relationships with senior leadership to support company goals.
- Direct, manage and implement project execution plan.
- Hold others accountable to project commitments.
- Influence without authority to achieve project goals.
- Ensure GXO Best Practices are implemented for all projects.
- Develop change management strategies to support project goals.
- Provide feedback and appropriately escalate risks and/or project roadblocks.
- Recognize and manage operational risks; implement best practices and provide a safe work environment.
What you need to succeed at GXO:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work or military experience
- 5 years of experience in logistics management, managing multiple complex projects simultaneously of varying scope and size in a supply chain, logistics, or distribution environment
- Solid understanding of professional services economics, and experience with change management processes
- Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Working knowledge of and experience in the functional areas of warehousing, distribution, inventory planning and management, network analysis and materials management
- Experience with financial management and business integration
- Availability to work extended hours, including evenings, nights and weekends; available for travel up to 40% to customer and multiple operating locations.
It’d be great if you also have:
- Advanced degree or MBA in Logistics or a related field
- 8 years of experience in logistics management
- Previous experience integrating new business and launching customer accounts.
- Proven leadership and collaboration skills with experience effectively supervising, coaching and influencing employees.
