We are looking for a seasoned Snowflake Solutions Architect to lead the company’s data lake strategy and analytics architecture initiatives. This role will be instrumental in driving end-to-end architecture while adopting emerging technologies & building cloud-native design patterns and solution designs that deepen our understanding of business drivers and helps us achieve our strategic objectives.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Lead the end-to-end data lake design and architecture strategy while adopting emerging technologies & building cloud-native design patterns and solution designs that deepen our understanding of business drivers and helps us achieve our strategic objectives.
  • Engage with organizational stakeholders to align priorities, communicate solution design trade-offs and recommendations, and build and execute development plans.
  • Define and implement a scalable and efficient data lake architecture that supports the storage, processing, and analysis to deliver data products. Collaborate with technology and architecture teams to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of robust data integration processes and pipelines for ingesting and transforming product data. Ensure seamless data flow across the organization and optimize data processing workflows
  • Establish and execute a holistic data architecture strategy in line with business goals.
  • Lead the assessment of emerging data trends and technologies, driving continuous innovation to keep the organization ahead in the evolving data landscape.
  • Mentor and guide solution architects and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in data management practices.
  • Design and implement highly scalable Snowflake architectures.
  • Lead the integration of Snowflake with various data sources and business systems.
  • Optimize and maintain Snowflake environments to ensure they meet the functional and technical requirements.
  • Develop and execute data migration strategies from legacy systems to Snowflake leveraging Event-Driven-Architectures
  • Define and enforce industry-aligned data architecture standards and best practices.
  • Spearhead the design and execution of intricate data projects in line with organizational objectives and architectural guidelines.
  • Offer technical direction to optimize scalability, flexibility, and cost-efficiency of data solutions, facilitating informed decision-making and widespread data utilization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data architecture into all aspects of the organization's operations, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making and innovation.
  • Support the development and execution of data integration strategies, ensuring seamless data flow across systems and platforms.
  • Proven experience in a senior data architect role, with a demonstrated track record of delivering highly scalable, flexible, and cost-effective cloud-native enterprise data solutions.
  • Excellent understanding of Snowflake Internals and integration of Snowflake with other data processing and reporting technologies
  • Expert level proficiency with data architecture patterns– Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Data Mesh, Lake house, Data as a product
  • Expert level proficiency in engineering & optimizing with various data engineering ingestion patterns - Batch, Micro Batch, Streaming and API

 

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, artificial intelligence, data science, or related
  • 10+ years of experience implementing data management solutions, ie, ETL / ELT, Data Warehousing, etc.
  • Expert-level knowledge in Snowflake, ie, setting up Resource Monitors, RBAC controls, scalable virtual warehouse design, SQL performance tuning, zero copy cloning, time travel, Snowpipe, Snowpipe Streaming, etc.
  • Experience in handling semi-structured data (JSON, XML), columnar PARQUET using the VARIANT attribute in Snowflake.
  • Experience in in re-clustering of the data in Snowflake with good understanding of Micro-Partitions.
  • Experience in Migration processes to Snowflake from on-premise database environments.
  • Experience in designing and building manual or auto ingestion data pipeline using Snowpipe Snowpipe Streaming, and Kafka.
  • Experience in Cloud technologies, such as GCP – GCS, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer, Cloud Functions, Cloud Deploy, Secrets Manager, etc.
  • Design and Develop automated monitoring processes on Snowflake using a combination of Python, Airflow, Terraform, and dbt.
  • Thorough understanding of current information systems technologies such as client/server, relational databases, web-based systems, and object-oriented design

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Master’s degree
  • Certified Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse Architect (Highly Desirable).
  • Certified Solutions Architect in one of the major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP (highly desirable))We engineer faster, smarter, leaner supply chains.
