Operations Manager - Hoogeveen
Date: 10 Sept 2026
Location: Hoogeveen, NL, 7903 BE
Company: GXO Logistics
Lead a fast-paced logistics operation supporting a well-established Dutch supermarket
Are you an experienced Operations Manager who knows how to lead large operational teams, drive performance through KPIs and keep people engaged in a busy, high-volume logistics environment?
At GXO’s site in Hoogeveen, you’ll play a key leadership role in an operation supporting a well-established Dutch supermarket customer. You’ll manage and influence a team that can range from approximately 70 to 250 colleagues across three shifts, ensuring the operation runs safely, efficiently and consistently for one of the most recognisable names in Dutch retail.
This is a Monday to Friday role, working 08:00 to 17:00, but you’ll have visibility across the full three-shift operation. You’ll balance day-to-day execution with people leadership, customer service, productivity, absenteeism management and continuous improvement — making sure the site delivers against its operational targets while building a positive, accountable and safety-first culture.
What you’ll lead
As Operations Manager, you’ll be responsible for driving operational performance across the Hoogeveen site, working closely with your leadership team, support functions and the customer to deliver safe, productive and reliable operations. You will:
- Lead daily warehouse operations across a three-shift environment, ensuring safety, service, quality and productivity expectations are consistently met
- Manage, coach and develop a large operational team of approximately 70 to 250 colleagues, creating clear expectations, accountability and engagement across shifts
- Drive performance through KPIs, dashboards and operational data, taking ownership of productivity, labour planning, workforce utilisation and cost control
- Work proactively with HR and site leadership to manage absenteeism, support performance conversations and maintain a positive, inclusive working environment
- Build a strong customer partnership while championing health and safety, continuous improvement, process standardisation and practical problem-solving across the operation
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for a confident, people-focused operations leader who enjoys working in a fast-paced logistics environment and knows how to translate performance data into practical action. You’ll ideally bring:
- Previous experience as an Operations Manager, Warehouse Manager or Shift Leader within logistics, warehousing, retail distribution, supply chain or a comparable fast-paced environment
- Experience leading large operational teams, ideally across multiple shifts, with the ability to engage, coach and influence through others
- Strong experience working with KPIs, productivity targets, service levels, quality measures and operational reporting
- Confidence analysing performance data, identifying root causes and taking clear action to close gaps and improve results
- Experience managing absenteeism, performance conversations and people-related challenges in partnership with HR and site leadership
- A strong commitment to health and safety, with the confidence to challenge unsafe behaviours and maintain high standards across the operation
- A hands-on, resilient and solutions-focused leadership style, with the ability to stay calm and effective under pressure
- Experience with continuous improvement, Lean principles or structured problem-solving would be an advantage
- Good working knowledge of warehouse systems, reporting tools and Excel
- Strong communication skills in English and Dutch essential
What’s in it for you
- A visible Operations Manager role at GXO’s Hoogeveen site, supporting a well-established Dutch supermarket customer
- Monday to Friday working hours, 08:00 to 17:00, while staying connected to a dynamic three-shift operation – you will be expected to be ‘on-call’ via telephone for one week in every three to ensure any issues are managed effectively outside of core working hours
- The opportunity to lead a sizeable team, influence performance and make a direct impact on safety, productivity and service
- A role where your ability to use KPIs, manage absenteeism and improve operational discipline will be recognised and valued
- Clear and visible career paths within a global organisation that invests in leadership development and internal progression
- A culture built on safety, teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement, where your ideas and leadership can make a real difference
