Systems Controller

As far as warehouses go, we’d say we have one of the best around! Our Nestle site at East Midlands Gateway really is the “crème de la crème” of warehousing, it’s one we love to shout about, and we know you’d be proud to work here too.

We’re looking for an experienced System Controller to join the team. If you have a flexible approach to working, great attention to detail and are ready for a challenge, this really could be the role for you.

This is a full-time, permanent role with an average of 42 hours per week, working 12-hour shifts from 06:00 to 18:00 and 18:00 to 06:00, rotating weekly between days and nights. It might look complicated at first, but it's simpler than it seems—and it gives you a great work-life balance!

Week 1 days/night shift pattern - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday

Week 2 days/night shift pattern - Wednesday and Thursday (the one you look forward to!)

Pay, benefits and more:

You’ll be paid a salary of up to £33,529 per annum. You’ll also receive 23 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days so you can enjoy a positive work-life balance. Your benefits package includes flexible dental insurance plans, a company sponsored pension scheme, a 24/7 online GP service, life assurance and a fully comprehensive employee assistance programme. You’ll also have access to our MyBenefits platform offering a variety of high street discounts, a cycle to work scheme, cashback cards, a saving scheme and much more! Including our GXO University which provides you the opportunity to learn new skills and gain qualifications at a pace that you’re comfortable with.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Liaise with the Swisslog engineers - you’ll be the eyes and the ears of the operation
  • Escalate and report any system issues to the control room manager that may have a negative impact on the operation - there will be times you have to manage these issues on your own so you must be able to think on your feet
  • Shortage management and escalations to the customer and GXO team on site - nobody wants to be without their Quality Street at Christmas after all!
  • Ensure the site systems are running efficiently and where possible reduce system down time

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Previous experience working in a warehouse control room
  • Knowledge and experience working in an inventory/stock team
  • Attention to detail is key for this role, there really is no room for error
  • A flexible approach to shift work - some days may be long, and we get you may get tired but the rewards and development in the role will make it all worth it
  • Strong aptitude towards warehouse management systems and associated technologies
