Transport Supervisor

Join us as our Transport Supervisor, reporting into Transport Operations Manager in our Sittingbourne depot for our customer Marshalls.  Working in partnership, you’ll ensure that our transport fleet is compliant with the latest transport legislations and that our colleagues work in a safe and inclusive work environment.


This is a permanent, 40 hour per week full time opportunity (core hours of Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00).

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £44,000* per annum (*dependent on level of experience), and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts

 

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Lead a safe, compliant transport operation by promoting strong safety behaviours and ensuring full adherence to Health & Safety and transport legislation
  • Deliver exceptional customer service through accurate, on‑time deliveries and professional, ambassador‑level communication from all drivers
  • Support and deputise for the Transport Operations Manager, driving high standards in communication, team briefings, performance reviews, and compliance
  • Motivate and develop Logistics Administrators with positive leadership, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance
  • Oversee first‑line people management and fleet compliance, including scheduling, vehicle servicing, tachograph controls, daily checks, and efficient loading operations

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Strong understanding of transport‑sector legislation, including Health & Safety, driver hours, and Working Time Directive requirements, along with experience managing fleet servicing schedules
  • Proven people‑management skills within a transport environment, with the ability to lead, communicate clearly, present confidently, and build strong working relationships
  • Highly organised and administratively capable, with solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and email systems, and the ability to work independently using own initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and team engagement
