The GXO Human Resources Intern role provides valuable hands-on experience in HR processes, allowing the intern to gain a comprehensive understanding of HR functions and contribute to the smooth operation of the department. During the 10 week program, the HR intern will work alongside the on-site Human Resources team assisting with functions such as Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, Compensation, Payroll, Compliance, Learning & Development, Recruiting, and Employee Engagement. Additional work could include supporting HR's partnership with safety, loss prevention, and operations through auditing employee data for accuracy.

 

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Learn and perform HR job functions and responsibilities to meet HR and site operations goals and objectives.
  • Engage with various levels of operations leadership and HR stakeholders to strategically assist in continuous improvement by identifying problems and creating Lean solutions.
  • Participate and/or lead projects with key partners and peer interns by creating and developing project plans, determine requirements, deliverables, resources, timing/milestones and risks.
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships with others that contribute to the efficiency of the team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to present information and data in an organized, concise, and audience appropriate manner.
  • Research, analyze, and exchange information, ideas, and opinions to aid in decision making.
  • Prepare and distribute comprehensive reports and status updates to business leaders.
  • Respond to employee questions and ensure employees have access to relevant policies.
  • Work together with others to gather resources, create value, solve problems and achieve goals and objectives.

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Current collegiate Junior or Senior in pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field with anticipated graduation by June 2026.
  • In academic good standing with a grade point average of at least 3.0.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • High degree of integrity to maintain confidentiality.

 

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Leadership and/or people management experience in collegiate programs and activities, or in previous/current employment.
  • Exposure and/or experience in data mining and analysis.

 

This job requires the ability to:

  • Lift objects up to 10lbs.
  • Stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel. 
  • Tolerate hot or cold warehouse climates.
