Driving Operational Excellence on the Shop Floor

At GXO’s fast-growing logistics hub in Lelystad, we are looking for a Continuous Improvement Manager who will play a key role in strengthening operational performance within a dynamic 3PL environment.

This role combines hands-on operational leadership on the shop floor with responsibility for mid- and long-term Continuous Improvement initiatives. The primary focus is on stabilizing and improving day-to-day operational performance, ensuring standards are consistently applied and processes run efficiently.

You will work closely with operational teams to reinforce standards, identify improvement opportunities and drive structured change. While the role contributes to the site’s CI strategy, the foundation lies in real operational impact and shop floor leadership.

This position requires someone who is comfortable working directly in the operation while also contributing to the long-term maturity and efficiency of the site.

What your week looks like as a Continuous Improvement Manager

  • Lead cross-functional improvement projects that increase productivity, safety, quality and operational throughput, using proven project and change management methodologies.
  • Support and manage daily operational processes on the shop floor, ensuring consistent application of operational standards such as 5S, automation/robotics utilization and rejection management.
  • Drive operational performance through KPI analysis, identifying root causes of deviations and implementing corrective and preventive actions that deliver measurable improvements.
  • Facilitate Lean / OPEX improvement initiatives and events, while identifying waste and implementing sustainable process improvements across the operation.
  • Coach and train teams in Lean, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement tools to strengthen operational capabilities and embed a strong improvement culture.

What success looks like in the first 12 months

  • Stabilized operational KPIs across safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Improved automation/robotics performance through consistent routines.
  • Sustained 5S maturity across all operational zones.
  • Measurable waste reduction and cost impact.
  • Visible progress on mid‑term CI roadmap items.
  • Improved leadership capability and standard adherence through coaching.

What we offer you

  • A key role within one of the largest and most advanced logistics hubs in the Netherlands.
  • A competitive salary in the range of €5800 – €7000 gross per month, depending on your experience, supported by a solid benefits package.
  • Real career opportunities within an international organisation that invests in your development, with transparent growth paths toward senior coordinator, trainer, HR or operations roles.
  • A strong people-first culture built on safety, teamwork and continuous improvement, within a dynamic environment of motivated colleagues where no day is the same.
  • Access to a high-quality company restaurant, where professional chefs prepare fresh, healthy meals every day for just a few euros.

 What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management or a related field (Master’s preferred) with at least 5 years of experience in a complex, fast-paced organization.
  • Proven experience in a 3PL logistics environment, with strong understanding of operational complexity, service level requirements and hands-on shop floor leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience with automation/robotics, 5S implementation, waste reduction and rejection management, with the ability to balance short-term operational priorities with long-term CI initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills, with the ability to interpret operational data, identify improvement opportunities and translate insights into measurable operational and cost improvements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization; fluent in English (Dutch and Spanish are an advantage).
  • A self-driven, resilient and results-oriented mindset, with high professional integrity, strong quality focus and the ability to perform in a high-performance operational environment.
