GXO is expanding its state‑of‑the‑art distribution centre in Lelystad, and we’re looking for an experienced Operations Manager to help lead the next phase of growth.

 

In this senior leadership role, you’ll take ownership of a 24/7 outbounds and dispatch operation, working across three rotating shifts. You’ll be responsible for delivering safe, reliable and high‑performance operations — while developing strong leadership talent and driving continuous improvement at scale.

Your role as Operations Manager

 

As Operations Manager, you are accountable for end‑to‑end execution within your shift and for contributing to overall site performance. Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading daily operational execution within your rotation, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient outbound and dispatch activities
  • Driving performance through KPIs, dashboards and data insights, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions
  • Championing LEAN, continuous improvement and process standardisation, ensuring operations remain scalable and consistent
  • Coaching and developing Warehouse Managers and their teams, including performance management, training and succession planning
  • Planning and allocating staff, workload and resources across shifts in close collaboration with support functions and the customer
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and engaging working environment, maintaining up‑to‑date procedures, documentation and compliance standards
  • Working closely with and reporting directly to the Head of Operations, aligning on priorities, performance expectations and execution

 

What we’re looking for

 

You bring senior operational experience and a strong leadership mindset. You ideally have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, engineering or business, supported by strong analytical skills
  • 5+ years’ experience in a complex, high‑volume warehouse or supply chain environment, ideally with exposure to automation
  • Proven experience of managing Managers and leading/ developing large teams (50+ employees) with the ability to influence across multiple levels
  • Strong communication skills in English (additional languages such as Dutch, German, French or Spanish are a plus)
  • A hands‑on, resilient and results‑driven approach, with the ability to perform under pressure without compromising standards
  • Strong analytical, reporting and financial understanding, with the ability to turn data into action
  • A continuous improvement mindset and a genuine motivation to grow — personally and professionally
  • Ability to work shifts which includes nights and weekends (Shift allowance is payable)

  • A competitive salary between €4,500–€5,800 (excluding shift allowance and bonus), depending on experience, quoted on a 40‑hour work week. Please note this role operates on a 35.7‑hour per week contract, and salary will be adjusted on a pro‑rata basis
