Developing Talent to Drive Operational Excellence

At one of the largest and most advanced logistics hubs in the Netherlands, we are looking for an experienced Training Manager to build, manage and continuously improve the Lelystad site’s training strategy. In this key role, you will ensure that employees at all levels are equipped with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to work safely, efficiently and in line with GXO standards.

You will lead the training function on site, develop training frameworks, coach the Training Coordinator(s), and partner closely with Operations, HR and QESH to create a strong learning culture that supports performance and growth. If you thrive in a dynamic environment and enjoy shaping people development on both strategic and operational level, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a major impact.

What your week looks like as a Training Manager

  • Design, implement and manage the site-wide training strategy, ensuring alignment with operational goals, safety standards and compliance requirements
  • Lead and coach the Training Coordinator(s), ensuring high-quality execution of onboarding, upskilling and refresher training
  • Develop and update training materials, SOPs and learning content, together with subject-matter experts and department leaders
  • Ensure accurate planning, registration and reporting of all training activities within the relevant systems (e.g., LMS, WMS, HR platforms)
  • Analyze training performance and skill gaps, report findings to site leadership and define improvement actions where needed
  • Partner with Operations, HR, QESH and Engineering to align training needs, workforce planning and development priorities
  • Drive continuous improvement in training quality, structure and delivery through audits, feedback loops and best-practice sharing
  • Ensure a safe, structured and supportive learning environment, where employees understand procedures, expectations and behavioural standards

 What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s level education in HR, training & development, business, logistics or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5 years of experience in training, learning & development or people development, preferably in a logistics, manufacturing or operational environment
  • Proven ability to design and manage training frameworks, not only execute but also develop and evaluate.
  • Experience leading or coaching others, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Analytical mindset, able to interpret data, assess skill gaps and translate findings into clear actions
  • Strong organisation and process skills, with a structured way of working and a high standard of accuracy
  • Fluency in English both verbal and written, with Dutch or Spanish a distinct advantage
  • A proactive, resilient and people-focused approach, committed to quality, safety and continuous improvement

What do we offer you?

  • A key role within one of the largest and most advanced logistics hubs in the Netherlands
  • A competitive salary, depending on your experience, supported by a solid benefits package
  • Real career opportunities within an international organisation that invests in your development, with transparent growth paths toward senior coordinator, trainer, HR or operations roles
  • A strong people-first culture built on safety, teamwork and continuous improvement, within a dynamic environment of motivated colleagues where no day is the same
  • Access to a high-quality company restaurant, where professional chefs prepare fresh, healthy meals every day for just a few euros
