As the Senior Supply Chain Solutions Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying facility design, process flows and personnel requirements to help keep our operations running smoothly. You’ll also develop work instructions and update standard operating procedures. You’ll be responsible for proactively searching the entire supply chain network to identify cost savings, optimization, and process improvement opportunities. You’ll synthesize the results in a clear and concise manner, present to all levels of management and to the customer as well as working to implement the solution. As a part of the team, you’ll have a starring role in helping us continue to provide daily business solutions for our global customers.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Support the preparation of proposals for new business opportunities by identifying potential locations and facilities
  • Analyze the receiving, inventory and fulfillment data within proposals to estimate activity level
  • Engineer facility, equipment layouts, staffing requirements, processes and flows
  • Identify facility upfits and equipment requirements
  • Work with functional support groups to develop and prepare solutions
  • Identify cost savings initiatives and manage projects through implementation
  • Develop robust business cases for all cost savings initiatives
  • Monitor results of cost savings initiatives, calculating annual performance to business case
  • Work alongside operations personnel to execute specific engineering efforts
  • Assist with the development of engineered solutions; conduct pilot programs, simulations, sprints and time studies
  • Research root cause of issues - recommend improvements in existing processes and implement action plans
  • Facility visits/support requiring 25 - 30% travel
  • Represent your solutions to senior management and clients

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or other technical and/or analytical field, or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 2 years of experience in one or more key functional areas: supply chain management, logistics, decision support systems/technology, transportation management, distribution or procurement functional responsibilities
  • Solid research skills, including using various analyses, data mining and simulations in Microsoft BI, Access and Excel to identify and scope opportunities within the customer’s supply chain
  • Ability to travel 25 – 30%

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Experience with analytical tools such as flow charts, Pareto charts, cause and effect diagrams, run charts, etc.
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Experience working in a production environment
  • Provide end-to-end solutions and own the development, enhancement, and maintenance of the deliverables
  • Lean Warehousing and Warehouse/Supply Chain knowledge
  • Ability to use AutoCAD to layout facilities and/or detailed work areas
  • Lean or Six Sigma Black Belt certification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional data management and SQL skills
  • Ability to present clean, organized and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience
