Join us as our Warehouse Operations Manager at our GXO Greene King site, based in Middleton. This is a full time, permanent position working Monday to Friday (08:00 to 17:00 - with flexibility for business needs).

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £60,000 per annum (dependent on level of experience), and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Lead and optimise warehouse operations, ensuring all service, quality, pick‑rate, stock control and throughput KPIs are consistently achieved
  • Drive a strong people culture through effective recruitment, training, performance management, supervision, communication, and succession planning
  • Champion world‑class Health & Safety and Food Hygiene standards, ensuring full compliance with HSE, NSF/BRC, legal and corporate policies
  • Manage operational finances and resources, including budget control, equipment maintenance, agency labour, and supplier relationships
  • Promote continuous improvement and cross‑functional collaboration, particularly with Transport, to deliver seamless service and support evolving client needs while deputising for the General Manager when required

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Extensive warehouse leadership experience (ideally within Food, Drink Retail, FMCG, multi‑temperature and caged distribution environments)
  • Strong operational and commercial capability, including significant budget control, labour management, WMS/voice-pick expertise, and proven delivery of continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cultural and service improvements, integrate new customer requirements, and manage within a Trade Union environment
  • Excellent leadership, analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a highly numerate approach and strong communication and influencing abilities
  • Track record of improving Health & Safety and HR outcomes, with experience in new business implementations considered desirable; graduate calibre preferred
