Customs & Excise Manager

From our shared user facility in Minworth, we are seeking an experienced Customs & Excise Manager to join us in leading our team of specialists in all Customs & Excise activities for one of our prestigious customer, British Airways.
This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday – Friday between the hours of 09:00 – 17:00, however we would expect a degree of flexibility.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £45,000 per annum, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Lead a small team of specialists, ensuring all activities associated with goods under bond status or IP special procedures are processed in meeting HMRC requirements and approval
- Ensure the accuracy and timely reporting of all HMRC’s required submissions and declarations, inclusive of the retention of all documentation and declarations that will serve to comply with HMRC audit processes
- Develop your own and team knowledge and understanding of HMRC requirements, through effective communications, and, where applicable, maintaining and revising Standard Operations Procedures and other continuous improvement processes
- Liaise with other site functions, providing expertise and support in all areas of Customs & Excise requirements
- Represent GXO in a customer-facing role to provide support, guidance, information and effective communication
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Excellent working knowledge of HMRC legislation applicable to Customs & Excise warehousing along with experience of working in a duty suspended and duty paid environment
- Expert user level knowledge of Duty Management systems, including CDS, and a clear understanding of Inward Processing (IP) special procedures, processes and reporting
- A proven leader who invests in team development, engagement, with the ability to adapt to change through harnessing the core values of GXO
