Contract Head of Safety

Here at GXO, we’re currently looking for a Contract Head of Health & Safety to join our Currys contract in Newark, with regular travel to our distribution centres in Bolton, Bristol, London Gateway and Stevenage. You’ll provide professional leadership, advice and governance across warehouse and transport operations, supporting senior management teams to deliver a consistent, compliant and engaged EHSQ culture aligned to our Road to Zero philosophy. You’ll play a critical role in protecting our people, our customers and our business — are you ready for the challenge?
This is a full‑time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required for travel and occasional unsociable hours.

You’ll be paid a salary of up to £60,000 per annum, you’ll also receive 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days so you can enjoy a positive work-life balance. What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Lead and influence the EHSQ strategy across the contract, embedding a strong Road to Zero and continuous improvement culture
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental and quality legislation, standards and GXO management systems
- Oversee risk assessments, accident investigations (including RIDDOR), audits and corrective action plans across all sites
- Provide clear performance reporting, insight and trend analysis to the senior leadership team and business unit EHSQ leadership
- Develop, coach and line manage site‑based QSHE teams, supporting capability, engagement and succession planning
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Significant multi‑site EHSQ leadership experience within warehouse and transport or a similar fast‑paced environment
- NEBOSH Level 6 Health & Safety qualification (or equivalent)
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, audits and management systems
- Proven ability to analyse data, lead investigations and drive practical, sustainable improvement
- A confident influencer and communicator, able to engage senior leaders and frontline teams alike
