Credit Specialist

Are you a proactive and relationship-driven Credit Controller looking for your next challenge?

Join our team in Northampton and play a key role in supporting the financial success of the business through effective cash collection and customer account management. This is a Monday to Friday role with an element of hybrid working, offering a great balance between collaboration and flexibility.

You'll take ownership of your ledger, building strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely collections while maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach. Success in this role requires excellent communication, strong attention to detail, and the ability to stay organised while managing a varied workload. If you enjoy problem-solving, taking initiative, and delivering results, we'd love to hear from you.

At GXO, we're committed to developing our people. This role may also offer the opportunity to gain a CICM qualification through our Apprenticeship Scheme (subject to eligibility criteria), helping you further your career in credit management and finance.

Pay, benefits and more:

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £27,000 per annum, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, a 24/7 online GP service, life assurance and a fully comprehensive employee assistance programme. You’ll also have access to our MyBenefits platform offering a variety of high street discounts, a cycle to work scheme, cashback cards, a saving scheme and much more!

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Manage a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring timely payment collection within agreed credit terms and achievement of collection targets
  • Build strong customer relationships through professional phone and email communication, proactively identifying and resolving collection risks
  • Investigate and resolve invoice queries, perform account reconciliations, and maintain accurate customer records to minimise payment delays
  • Prepare customer statements, reminders, and regular collection status updates, presenting risks and strategies in internal meetings
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, provide team support and holiday cover, and undertake ad hoc duties as required

What you need to succeed at GXO

  • Previous Credit Control experience, or a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience, with a strong understanding of collections and account management
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and colleagues
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
