Health & Safety Apprentice

Here at GXO, we’re proud to be recruiting for a Health & Safety Apprentice at our Sainsbury’s site in Northampton (Pineham - NN4 9EH). Over two years, you will learn vital skills in Health & Safety such as risk assessment, COSHH regulations, accident investigation and analysing and reporting data. Alongside on-the-job training, you will also study a fully funded Level 3, Safety, Health and Environment Technician Apprenticeship and a NEBOSH General certificate which will give you the skills and knowledge to succeed in your role.

 

Pay, benefits and more:

 

We’re looking to offer a salary of £25,000.00 per annum. Your working week will be Monday to Friday 09:00 till 17:00. In addition, we offer 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Work as part of a busy team, ensuring compliance with all H & S requirements
  • Support QHSE manager with admin duties and undertaking own projects
  • Respond to all communications to the QHSE team delivering excellent and timely customer service at all times
  • Organise QHSE and First Aid meetings, communicating with First Aiders and H & S Reps
  • Ensure all company systems are maintained accurately including populating trackers and updating audit results

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, and the ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and customers
  • Good organisational skills with a keen eye for detail, especially when producing reports and handling data accuracy
  • A strong work ethic with the capability to work on your own initiative and prioritise own workload
  • Previous experience in a safety role or as an Administrator and have achieved or working towards IOSH Managing Safely
  • Ambition and a genuine desire to learn and grow – this is a career and not just a job, and there will be a variety of development opportunities on offer during the apprenticeship and beyond
