Payroll Analyst

As our Junior Payroll MI Analyst, you’ll take ownership of day‑to‑day payroll MI and reporting, delivering accurate, timely insights that payroll, HR and finance teams rely on. From producing dashboards and exception reports to safeguarding data quality and smooth BAU processes, you’ll play a vital role in keeping payroll reporting running like clockwork. You’ll also gain hands‑on experience improving and automating reporting processes, building a strong foundation in payroll, data and MI within a supportive, collaborative team.
This is permanent role based at our Northampton head office which offers the flexibility of hybrid working, with up to three days a week in the office.

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Own and deliver BAU payroll MI and reporting, including scheduled, ad‑hoc, frequency and exception reporting
- Ensure payroll data accuracy and timeliness through robust quality checks, issue resolution and risk escalation
- Maintain and enhance standard payroll reports, dashboards, and over/underpayment reporting processes
- Support payroll performance monitoring and provide clear, reliable MI to payroll, HR and finance teams
- Drive continuous improvement by reducing manual activity, supporting automation, and maintaining SOPs and controls
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Experience delivering BAU reports and MI to regular schedules, with strong Excel skills (formulas, pivots, data validation)
- Proven ability to maintain data accuracy, spot trends or anomalies, and respond to routine ad‑hoc requests
- Strong understanding of process controls, SOPs and the importance of consistent, compliant BAU delivery
- Confident communicator who can explain MI or payroll data clearly to non‑technical stakeholders
- Organised, detail‑focused and proactive team player with a willingness to learn payroll systems, reporting tools and automation techniques (exposure to Power BI, SQL, SAP, ADP or similar is a plus but not essential)
