Senior SOX Manager
Are you a qualified accountant with a passion for controls and continuous improvement? Do you thrive in a role where no two days look the same? Ready to lead, influence, and elevate SOX compliance across a complex, fast‑growing organisation?
Here at GXO, we’re looking for a Senior SOX Manager. As a SOX Manager for the UK&I, you’ll play a pivotal role in strengthening the integrity of our financial reporting across a diverse and fast‑paced logistics environment.
This is a hands‑on, high‑visibility position where you’ll be a pivotal leader in the delivery of our SOX programme, oversee control design and effectiveness, and act as a trusted advisor to Finance Leadership and operational teams.
Operating centrally in Northampton, with regular travel to GXO sites, you’ll partner closely with stakeholders across Controllership, AP, AR, FP&A, Site Finance and External Audit to drive compliance, improve processes, and champion a consistent, robust control framework.
You’ll also shape and develop talent within the team, balancing routine quarterly cycles with deep‑dive problem‑solving and continuous improvement initiatives that help us operate smarter every day.
This is a full-time permanent position. You’ll be working Monday to Friday, 09:00 till 17:00 with a requirement to be in our Northampton office 3 days per week. However, some flexibility is required, this is logistics after all!
Pay, benefits and more:
We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £90,000, depending on experience, with the option of a company car or car allowance to the value of £595 per month and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme and private medical cover as well as excellent discounts.
What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Lead end‑to‑end SOX walkthroughs with external auditors and oversee the control testing process
- Provide regular updates to Finance Leadership and senior stakeholders on control status, issues, and remediation
- Identify opportunities to enhance and standardise process documentation, policies, and procedures
- Support balance sheet reviews, internal/external audits, and wider controllership activities
- Mentor and coach a team, empowering them to deliver a robust, compliant controls framework
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Qualified Accountant with strong experience in SOX, Internal Audit, External Audit, ICFR, and PCAOB standards
- Advanced Excel and strong IT literacy, ideally with exposure to Oracle Fusion, Blackline, Power BI, or other similar data analytics tools
- A curious, analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex financial/technical language to non‑finance stakeholders
- Confidence working in a customer‑facing environment, influencing and partnering across multiple departments
- A proactive, adaptable approach to managing busy cycles of work alongside ad‑hoc challenges
