Senior Technical Finance Project Manager
Ready to shape the future of Finance Systems at GXO?
We’re looking for a driven Finance Systems Project Manager to lead an exciting 18‑month fixed‑term finance transformation project. Based in Northampton with hybrid working, this is your chance to play a pivotal role in a multi‑year programme that will redefine how our Finance Systems operate, integrate and deliver value.
As a key member of our Finance Systems team, you’ll sit at the heart of transformation—connecting business SMEs, technology specialists and third‑party partners to deliver impactful projects end‑to‑end. From SaaS application releases to large-scale system implementations, reporting improvements and analytics enhancements, you’ll ensure every initiative lands on time, within scope, on budget and with the quality our business demands.
This is a genuine opportunity to bring thought leadership, steer strategic priorities and influence the evolution of Finance Systems at GXO. With major transformation underway, there’s never been a more exciting time to join and make your mark.
Pay, benefits and more:
We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £90,000, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company car or car allowance, a company sponsored pension scheme, private medical & dental insurance, a 24/7 online GP service, life assurance and a fully comprehensive employee assistance programme. You’ll also have access to our MyBenefits platform offering a variety of high street discounts, a cycle to work scheme, cashback cards, a saving scheme and much more!
What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Lead end-to-end project delivery, ensuring all initiatives meet agreed scope, budget, quality, timelines, feasibility and adoption metrics—while generating and managing project plans, budgets, resources, risks and change requests
- Engage and influence stakeholders during scoping and requirements gathering, negotiating win‑win solutions, validating scope or financial changes, and translating technical information for non‑technical audiences
- Ensure strong governance and control, maintaining standards, managing risks and escalations, documenting decisions, producing accurate progress reports, and representing the project at steering committees and review forums
- Manage 3rd‑party suppliers by coordinating delivery, challenging estimates, overseeing contractual commitments, and holding partners accountable for cost, time and quality outcomes
- Lead and motivate cross‑functional project teams, solve complex business/technical problems, ensure smooth transition to support teams, secure customer acceptance, capture lessons learned, and contribute to continuous improvement in project delivery at GXO
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Proven experience delivering finance systems projects, with deep exposure to ERP platforms such as SAP and Oracle ERP/EPM Cloud, alongside delivering SaaS‑based releases, BAU enhancements and process improvement initiatives
- Skilled in managing a project and demand pipeline, preparing robust business cases for large, complex initiatives, and prioritising system improvements in partnership with business stakeholders
- Strong stakeholder leadership, able to build productive relationships with end users and senior leaders, communicate complex issues clearly, troubleshoot effectively, and apply sound judgment even with limited information
- Experienced in managing and leading 3rd‑party suppliers, including contract negotiation, performance oversight and ensuring external partners deliver on time, on budget and to required standards
- Highly self‑sufficient and impactful, with strong time‑management, presentation and communication skills, and the ability to make an immediate contribution without close guidance—reflecting the seniority of the role
