Transport Planner

We’re looking for a Transport Planner to join our GXO Transport Networks team in Northampton. In this role, you’ll support the planning of core delivery routes and collections/trunking operations, ensuring plans are efficient, accurate and aligned to customer expectations. You’ll work closely with colleagues across sites, shifts and functions, providing essential administrative and planning support to keep our network moving.

 

This is a full‑time, permanent role, working Monday to Friday, 11:30-20:00 (40 hours per week).

We’re looking to offer a salary of £30,000 per annum and 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company‑sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts.

 

What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Plan, update and manage core delivery routes, collections and trunking activities across the network
  • Coordinate daily network reports, ad‑hoc bookings and returns, ensuring accuracy and timely communication
  • Liaise with customers, depots and operational teams to resolve issues quickly and maintain strong working relationships
  • Utilise planning tools such as Excel, routing software (Paragon/Aptean) and internal systems to support efficient transport scheduling
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve data accuracy and enhance service performance

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Previous experience within a planning or transport/logistics environment
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel; experience with routing systems such as Paragon is highly beneficial
  • Excellent attention to detail and confidence analysing data and solving problems
  • A proactive, flexible approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
