Transport Planner

We’re looking for a Transport Planner to join our team on our Greene King contract in Northampton. You’ll be responsible for route planning using our customers planning tool, along with developing & managing real relationships with customers and drivers. You’ll ensure that our transport department always runs in an efficient and effective manner. 

 

You’ll work on a Monday – Friday basis, 8am to 5pm, however we do have some flexibility on start and end times, likewise we also need some flexibility during seasonal peak periods and bank holidays, getting beer to the right location and on time is important!

We’re looking to offer a salary of £28,316.00 per annum, and 28 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • All vehicles are planned and that the resource available is fully utilised
  • Provide final route plans to the warehouse operation within the agreed timescale to allow for picking in a timely manner
  • Ensure that the legislation with regard to EU Drivers hours regulations is being followed
  • Deal with customer issues and monitor drivers daily progress, updating the customer as required
  • Ensure that the sub-contractor costs are in line with our agreed rates ensuring that the maximum benefit is being secured and that any subcontractor financial queries are resolved in a timely manner
     

What you need to succeed at GXO

  • Experience of working in a transport environment performing route planning with strong geographical knowledge of the UK
  • Previous use of a Transport Planning tool is essential
  • Computer literate (Strong excel, word & e-mail)
  • Excellent people skills – team player and remains calm under pressure
  • Strong communicator both written and verbal with attention to detail
