Transport Team Manager (Nights)

Join our fast-paced operation for our customer Sainsburys in Pineham, as Transport Team Manager, where you’ll lead over 100 trucks, 20 rigids and 260 trailers, within a diverse transport team, where you’ll be influencing performance, efficency and customer service.

This is a full time, permanent position based on site in Pineham. Working 3 on 3 off shift pattern of 18:00 to 06:00.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £37,738.00 + Night Shift premium £4,400 per annum, and 23.5 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts!

 

What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Lead and inspire Transport Clerical, Shunting, and Driver teams, ensuring effective resource allocation, capability development, and operational performance across the transport function
  • Drive operational excellence, delivering safe, compliant, and efficient transport operations while achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) and customer service objectives
  • Develop and coach colleagues, creating a high-performing culture focused on engagement, continuous improvement, progression, and wellbeing
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of operational requirements, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
  • Champion safety, compliance, and innovation, promoting health, safety and wellbeing standards

 

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams in a fast-paced operational environment, ideally within transport, logistics, or supply chain operations
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships
  • A confident and inspiring leader who can engage, empower, and motivate large teams to deliver outstanding operational results and drive a culture of continuous improvement
  • Commercially aware and decisive, able to make sound decisions in a dynamic environment, challenge the status quo, and identify opportunities to improve performance
  • Technically proficient, with knowledge of transport legislation (including drivers' hours, tachographs, and Road Traffic Act requirements)
