Regional Health & Safety Manager (Coldstores)

Hear at GXO, we are looking for a Regional Health & Safety Manager to cover our 10 “Cold Stores” (temperature-controlled environment) throughout the UK including Scotland, with a home base of Bedworth CV10. Sites vary in size and occupation from small sites employing around 8 colleagues up to larger sites employing over 200 colleagues. Customers vary from large national food retailers to smaller independent customers. The network provides cold storage solutions at temperatures down to -24oC and includes services such as blast-freezing and tempering products for customers. It also incorporates one site with a seasonal food production facility for frozen peas

You will Lead and promote a strong safety culture aligned with our “Road to Zero” strategy. You will drive continuous improvement in quality, health, safety, and environmental practices across multiple sites. You will ensure compliance with legislation and corporate standards through effective implementation and monitoring of QHSE policies and procedures. There is approx. 75% travel with this role.

 

This is a full time, permanent role, working Monday to Friday, 08:00 till 16:00. However, we do ask for flexibility, as occasional overnight stays and unsociable hours coverage maybe required, this is logistics after all!

What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Drive and deliver the principles and initiatives of Road to Zero across the sites
  • Work with site Management to ensure all health, safety and environmental matters are dealt with in line with legislation, GXO procedures and best practice
  • Review and create Risk Assessments (task, COSHH, fire, first aid, workplace transport, environment) and Safe Systems of Work for all tasks carried out within the Warehouse, Transport and Engineering departments
  • Review and update Refrigeration Procedures in line with legislation and best practise
  • Interpret and adopt advice from Refrigeration SMEs into procedures and policies

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Minimum 5 years in a senior safety management role at site or contract level
  • NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma or equivalent with current active CPD
  • Experience of warehouse, transport and engineering operations
  • Level 3 qualifications in engineering / refrigeration / related subject (desirable)
  • Level 2 HACCP (desirable)
  • Experience of high-hazard environments / equipment management including those falling under DSEAR, PSSR and PUWER
  • Full UK Driving License
