Ready to Write Winning Bids?

We’re looking for an experienced Bid Writer to help deliver high-value, multi-million-pound proposals across diverse sectors—from Aerospace and Defence to Healthcare and Public Sector. In this pivotal role, you’ll combine exceptional writing skills with strategic thinking, working closely with subject matter experts to craft compelling, compliant, and high-scoring submissions. Security clearance is required, and APMP Foundation certification is a plus.

You’ll need flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs and priorities, and travel will be required to attend team meetings or support bid activity. If you thrive under pressure, love a challenge, and know how to make every bid count, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.

Pay, benefits and more:

We’re looking to offer a competitive salary along with 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company car or car allowance, a company sponsored pension scheme, private medical & dental insurance, a 24/7 online GP service, life assurance and a fully comprehensive employee assistance programme. You’ll also have access to our MyBenefits platform offering a variety of high street discounts, a cycle to work scheme, cashback cards, a saving scheme and much more!

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Proposal Development & Structure: Create high-quality, tailored responses for complex bids, ensuring clear, logical structures and compelling win themes
  • Content Creation & SME Engagement: Write and edit content from multiple stakeholders, lead storyboard sessions, and maintain strong SME networks for timely input
  • Compliance & Consistency: Guarantee full compliance with tender requirements while maintaining consistent tone, style, and messaging across all documents
  • Deadline & Quality Management: Deliver proposals within strict timelines, applying meticulous proofreading and quality assurance standards
  • Content Reuse & Tools: Rework existing content for efficiency, tag new material for the bid library, and leverage proposal automation tools where applicable
  • Continuous Improvement & Senior Communication: Apply lessons learned from previous bids, influence senior stakeholders, and drive enhancements in bid processes

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Proven Bid Writing Expertise: Demonstrated experience in writing and editing proposal content within complex business environments, including leading storyboarding sessions and managing content sign-off
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Outstanding written English with the ability to simplify technical concepts and influence senior stakeholders effectively
  • Sector Knowledge & Adaptability: Strong understanding of regulated sectors (Aerospace, Defence, Healthcare, Public Sector) and flexibility to tailor content for diverse industries
  • Technical & Process Proficiency: Familiarity with proposal automation software, bid management tools, and excellent time management to meet tight deadlines without compromising quality
  • Certifications & Compliance: Ability to obtain security clearance; APMP Foundation certification preferred
