Class 1 Driver

Here at GXO Logistics, we are looking for a versatile safety-focused Class 1 Driver to join our specialist logistics based in Portbury, PS20 7XE.  You will be responsible for the secure transport of hazardous goods, including lithium-ion batteries and solar panels, cross the UK.

 

You will be contracted to work 48 hours per week, Monday to Friday, start time window of 05:00 – 06:00 with occasional weekend work when required. ADR training will be provided for successful candidates, supported by a training agreement to ensure you're fully equipped for the role.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • A typical day starts between 05:00 – 06:00 with 1 -2 deliveries to engineers, followed by a trunk run between our distribution centres
  • Transport ADR-classified goods safely (e.g. lithium-ion batteries) to and from sites
  • Complete delivery paperwork accurately and provide professional customer service
  • Conduct Vehicle checks, report defects and maintain safety compliance
  • Adhere to ADR, Driver hours, Tachograph and Health & Safety regulations

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • A full UK driving licence with category Class 1 (C+E) entitlement
  • A valid Driver Qualification Card (Drivers CPC) and valid Digital Tachograph Card
  • ADR Licence (minimum Class 9, miscellaneous Dangerous Substances, with Packages) preferred
  • Previous experience with hazardous goods transport (batteries/solar panels desirable)
  • No more than 6 current penalty points
  • No DR, DG, DD, BA, CD, AC, LC or TT99 endorsements with a conviction date within the previous 5 years
