As the Manager of Environmental Compliance, you will manage the Supply Chain environmental compliance requirements, including developing, implementing, and managing all environmental compliance programs and initiatives for the organization.

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Provide technical expertise and leadership for environmental compliance programs related to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Emergency Response Planning, and the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act
- Oversee the preparation and submission of environmental reports to federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
- Develop, update, and maintain environmental training modules, policies, procedures, and job aids
- Conduct environmental training sessions via webinar and track site training progress
- Review and provide feedback on site-generated environmental compliance work instructions
- Conduct site visits and audits, educate site leaders on compliance requirements, and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions
- Coach and train site leaders to strengthen understanding, competency, and execution of environmental program requirements
- Monitor evolving regulatory requirements and independently develop action plans to mitigate risks and support operational readiness
- Communicate regularly with Operations, Legal, Facilities, and Solutions teams regarding environmental risks, potential or actual violations, audit results, and mitigation strategies
- Provide guidance on environmental governance, risk management, and controls to reduce the risk of violations; liaise with external regulatory agencies
- Make environmental decisions on behalf of the organization to prevent violations, penalties, and fines
- Provide strategic leadership in developing and deploying environmental compliance programs, dangerous goods policies, and digital environmental management systems
- Leverage digital tools and innovation to support proactive environmental risk mitigation
- Develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Environmental Compliance function
- Assist in reviewing and investigating environmental incidents, spills, and compliance concerns
- Support the Company Sustainability Manager in alignment with sustainability initiatives
What you need to succeed at GXO:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
- General knowledge of air permitting and working knowledge of Tier II reporting, Stormwater compliance, and Solid and Hazardous Waste regulations
- Ability to review environmental regulations and translate them into actionable policies, procedures, training materials, and plans
- 4 years of experience implementing environmental compliance programs
- Prior managerial experience in an environmental or safety-related role
It’d be great if you also have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Chemistry, Environmental Health, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or a related field
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills related to environmental compliance
- Experience interacting with regulatory agencies
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to influence and educate site leaders across multiple locations
- Experience developing KPIs and monitoring program performance
- A passion for sustainability and environmental protection
