As the Senior Director, Solutions, you’ll be responsible for the overall management of Solutions Engineering functions and will provide strategic thought leadership to the organization. You’ll manage internal and external customer expectations, communication of expectations throughout the company, as well as communication of company capabilities, recommendations and strategic initiatives to customers. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Lead the development of automation-forward solutions that improve speed, scalability, and cost efficiency across diverse verticals.
  • Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to define solution requirements and translate them into optimized warehouse designs, technology integrations, and operational models.
  • Champion a data-driven design approach using analytics to validate and drive solutioning, including SKU slotting strategies and storage strategies.
  • Collaborate with divisional leaders to ensure solutions align with unique vertical needs (e-commerce, retail, industrial, food & beverage, technology, aerospace/automotive).
  • Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team of Solutions Managers, Industrial Engineers, Automation Specialists, Data Analysts, and Pricing Leads.
  • Partner with Business Development to shape customer strategies and win high-value RFPs with automation-centric proposals.
  • Develop and maintain standardized tools, templates, and methodologies for solution design, automation ROI modeling, and cost estimation.

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Technology, Mechatronics, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in logistics engineering, automation design, or solutions development within 3PL/contract logistics and/or OEM/Systems Integrator environments.
  • Deep understanding of warehouse automation technologies (AMRs, conveyors, sortation, AS/RS, robotic picking, packaging automation, pick-to-light).
  • Proven success leading solution design teams in multi-vertical, complex RFP processes.
  • Experience integrating operational design with digital systems (WMS/WES/LMS).
  • Strong financial and ROI modeling skills; advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities.

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Expertise in modeling and design tools (AutoCAD, AnyLogic, FlexSim, or similar).
  • Experience developing value propositions and presenting solutions to executive-level stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of SKU slotting, velocity strategies, and fulfillment design methods (batch, cluster, discrete picking).
