Warehouse Operative
We are recruiting a Lead Warehouse Operative to join our Diageo operation, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced warehouse professional looking to take the next step in their career.
This senior, hands‑on role provides the opportunity to gain leadership experience by supporting and covering the Team Leader during periods of holiday and absence, while remaining actively involved in a fast‑paced, high‑volume warehouse environment.
The role operates on a rotating shift pattern based on 182 shifts per year (2,184 hours) within a 24/7, 363‑day operation. Shifts are 12 hours, covering days (07:00–19:00) and nights (19:00–07:00), working a rotation of 2 days and 2 nights followed by 5 days off, 2 days and 3 nights followed by 4 days off, and 3 days and 2 nights followed by 5 days off.

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Load and unload small pack and keg production lines, trailers, and designated storage areas
- Operate MHE, counter balance & PPTs (including counterbalance forklift trucks with clamp attachment used in the keg operation), to move and store stock safely
- Rework products in line with customer, quality, and operational requirements
- Support and cover the Warehouse Operative 2 / Team Leader to ensure the small pack and keg operations run efficiently
- Lead and manage warehouse operatives when required, ensuring production lines and outbound orders run to plan
- Use of customer SAP & Warehouse COLOS systems to manage stock
- Adherence to both customer and GXO H&S regulations in your daily operational areas
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Proven experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, ideally within a fast‑paced operation
- The confidence and capability to step up and support Team Leader responsibilities when required
- A methodical, organised, and safety‑focused approach to work
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead, support, and motivate a team
- A counterbalance forklift licence and experience operating MHE (clamp attachment desirable)
- The flexibility to work a rotating day and night shift pattern in a 24/7 operation
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to GXO values and continuous improvement
- Experience operating a counterbalance clamp truck and Powered Pallet Truck (PPT) is desirable
