This is an exciting new opportunity to join the GXO team as a Senior Planning & Inventory Manager. Dedicated to our M&S operation in Thorncliffe, Sheffield, you’ll be responsible for setting the strategy for labour planning and best in class utilisation on site, utilising the talent of the team and current planning tools, as well as exploring alternative tools and ways of working to add further value.

 

This is a full time, permanent role. The working hours are Monday to Friday 37.5 per week, with some flexibility on start time between 08:00 and 09:00.

You’ll be paid a salary of up to £55,000 per annum, depending upon experience. What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Ensuring the efficient operation of both internal and external planning functions, setting the strategy for labour planning and best in class utilisation on site, utilising the talent of the team and current planning tools, as well as exploring alternative tools and ways of working to add further value
  • Focus on the strategy and direction given to the team to maintain accurate stock availability, optimising storage capacities, and providing management information (MI) to enable strategic decision-making
  • Lead your teams in a manner that fosters a positive, collaborative culture while ensuring continuous improvement, safety, and quality standards are met, also supporting the development and upskilling of their your members
  • Liaise regularly with the customer and internal stakeholders, to showcase options and proposals to drive efficiency, processing large volumes of data to draw out insightful conclusions to shape decisions

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • You’ll have experience in logistics planning, inventory management and storage operations, preferably in a 24/7 operational environment, and ideally in eCommerce or Retail
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop staff
  • Confident communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with both customers and other sites, enabling synergies and collaborative opportunities
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (DLX preferable), and data tools such as Power BI, Tablo and Python is highly desirable
