Backhaul Manager

Here at GXO, we are currently recruiting for a Backhaul Manager to join our team supporting our Screwfix Contract looking after our Runcorn, Trentham, Stafford and Lichfield Distribution Centres.

 

This is a full time, permanent position, predominately working Monday to Friday 08:00-16:00.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £43,000 per annum as well as 25 days of annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Working closely with our customer, warehouse & transport planning (internal and external) and potential new suppliers.
  • Looking at the current network schedule to identify backhaul opportunities and engage / plan in accordingly.
  • Use the full potential of the vehicle utilisation and trailer fill to maximise profit and revenue margins.
  • Onboarding and setting up new suppliers.
  • Ensuring drivers are trained to complete all backhaul and collections​.
  • Tracking costs, revenue and benefits, building a business case to expand opportunities.

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Have an understanding of transport ,compliance, drivers hours.
  • Attention to detail and carry out tasks accurately.
  • Customer focused and able to build effective relationships with team, client and other third parties
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Experience of health and safety regulations is essential.
  • Enthusiastic, committed and able to respond positively to changing demands.
