Assistant Finance Manager

Here at GXO, we’re looking for a proactive and commercially minded Assistant Finance Manager to join our Primark contract based in Thrapston. You will play a key role within a high-profile logistics operation. As Assistant Finance Manager, you’ll be central to producing robust financial information, influencing operational decisions, and supporting the Finance Manager in delivering accurate reporting, budgets, and forecasts.

 

You’ll work closely with both Finance and Operational teams, translating numbers into insight and ensuring costs are understood, controller, and challenged.

 

This is a full-time, permanent role. You will work Monday to Friday, 08:30 till 17:00.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £36,000 per annum, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts

 

What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Produce weekly accounts cost lines, explaining variances with clear, meaningful commentary to operational stakeholders and the Finance Manager
  • Complete weekly customer reports, including KPI and hours analysis
  • Support the Finance Manager with annual budgets and forecasts for both GXO and the customer
  • Attend and contribute to weekly cost review meetings with Finance and Senior Operations
  • Complete month-end procedures, ensuring costs are balanced and risk and opportunities are highlighted
  • Completed monthly Balance Sheet reviews and escalate issues where appropriate

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • AAT qualified and/or studying towards CIMA or ACCA
  • Previous experience in a finance or accounting role
  • Strong Excel skills (including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS)
  • Highly organised, accurate, and able to work under pressure
  • Confident communicator, comfortable challenging operational teams constructively
