Transport Planner

Do you have experience planning transport operations within a fast-paced environment? Are you confident using transport planning systems and analysing route performance and cost efficiency? Do you have good working knowledge of UK transport legislation?

 

Here at GXO, we’re looking for a Transport Planner to join our Thrapston Primark site. This role is key to ensuring the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective planning of transport operations while maintaining excellent service levels for customers. Working closely with drivers, warehouse teams, and customer service, you’ll be responsible for planning routes, managing resources, and reacting quickly to operational changes.

 

This is a full-time, permanent position. You’ll be working Sunday to Thursday, 12:00 till 20:00.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £30,000 per annum, and 33 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts

 

What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Plan and optimise daily and weekly transport schedules to maximise efficiency
  • Ensure all transport activity complies with UK legislation and company policies
  • Monitor vehicle utilisation, costs, and delivery performance
  • Communicate effectively with drivers regarding routes, timings, and changes
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues such as delays, shortages, or vehicle problems

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Previous experience in a Transport Planner or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of UK transport regulations and driver hours
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Confident using planning systems, Excel, and other IT tools
